Many of us metalheads, including myself, love to collect cds/tapes/vinyls but also like to share and download those rare or OOP recordings such as demos, rehearsals and live bootlegs that are becoming more and more undervalued in the metal scene. Whether it's an old rehearsal tape of some forgotten early death metal band or a poor recording of one of Mercyful Fate's earliest shows, our passion is to collect and share these recordings to keep the music alive. Stay true and stay metal!

Absurd - Death From the Forest (1993)
This is a fucking classic demo but I can understand why many people might not like it. The production isn't raw it's just plain bad - muffled, quiet and full of hiss. The musicianship isn't even good enough to be called questionable, it doesn't even sound like they bothered to tune in the guitars either. What's great about this demo, though, is the songs themselves and the attitude they're played with. The band sounds so hateful and serious and the style of songwriting is just so strange. They're like epic hateful punk songs played with a black metal feel and conviction, there's a serious cult feel about this and while I try to tell myself that this should be terrible a natural stirring inside me can help but love this.
Contrary to popular belief Absurd never wrote any lyrics praising nazism or even any national socialist lyrics at all, though due to their connection with that scene (what that is I'm not that sure) I should state that Night of the Unborn do not necessarily agree with or even approve of the views expressed by the artists featured, we're more interested in the actual music. Also, if you don't know already, this is that band that strangled a classmate to death when they were teenagers. It was a pretty big thing in the German media at the time.
Straight on through the gates of heaven...
